Pilgrimage walks. Heading west from Hopton
May 14th, 2012
A community walking group, inspired by our project and initiated by David Kelf have started to walk from the east coast following the Mary Line. These walks are open to anyone and take place on the second Saturday of each month and involve a round trip of 6-8 miles.
The first walk on the 14th of April began at the cliff top beacon where the Mary line emerges from (or disappears into) the sea at Hopton and progressed via the Old St Margaret’s Church ruins to Lound. The second was from Lound to St Olaves, by way of Ashby Church.
The plan is to continue to progress along the Mary line to Eye, before beginning a series of walks back to Hopton along the Michael line.
The next walk between St Olaves and Haddiscoe Church will be on Saturday 9th June, starting at 2.00pm from The Bell, St Olaves.
